Welcome to the Scarborough Music website! My name is Mrs. Saenz and this is my 10th year teaching music. We are on an 8-day rotation and the students will come to music twice during those 8 days. This year I'm excited to be working alongside Mrs. Britt who will be teaching her music classes on the stage. We will be teaching the same lessons so all students in each grade level will be learning the same thing. What a blessing to have another music teacher on campus who brings many strengths and will add to our already amazing program. During music class students will sing, dance, play instruments, and move. There will be lots of opportunities for students to explore different instruments, practice and see progress in their singing ability, learn how to read music (rhythm and on a staff), and create movements to different musical styles from all over the world. Most importantly the students will have fun while learning to appreciate the importance of music in our everyday lives.
I set high and realistic expectations for ALL students and want them to feel successful and safe in my classroom. Students are expected to participate, to work individually as well as in groups at times, and to above all else, practice kindness and respect to each other, myself, and the equipment in the classroom.
A little about me: I attended UTSA where I majored in Music Education and graduated in the Spring of 2008. I'm thrilled to be a part of NISD and especially here at Scarborough where we put kids first! I was lucky enough to be one of the original Husky teachers to open up Scarborough and even had the privilege of writing our school song! I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants and new recipes, spending time with my family and friends, and being part of the worship team at my church. I'm looking forward to meeting our new Huskies and sharing my passion of music with each of them.
My quote for the year:
"At any given moment, you have the power to say that this is not how the story is going to end." --M. Pourri (Be Proactive!)
"You can choose courage or you can choose comfort, but you cannot choose both." --Brene Brown (Take risks!)
